busy week....

that's the least I can say, we were exactly one day at home...
we left friday to go to Las Palmas, but before we got on the bus (which was late again, just had a small accident... ufff) I went to get some newspapers:

After all the problems we had at the airport (overbooking, me not having a ticket on my name, flying on Petra's name, some people in bussiness class, they were happy)
we got to the hotel friday night and went for a walk on the beach... what felt great!

the game in Las Palmas: 53-76

and after the game...

We came back sunday night, had 2 practices on monday and off to Istanbul on tuesday morning 6am!
Arriving at Istanbul, we got the biggest bus ever hehe... the trunk fitted 2 bags exactly... so this was us smashed in the bus with all our luggage...

On wednesday (gameday) it was their national day... 85 years of the republic... so lots of flags in the streets... impressive!!

the game, close and intens but we took the 2 points home: 61-67

some other nice comment again on the FIBA site:

"Last week, the team edged Russian outfit Nadezhda by just three points.

Belgium international Anke De Mondt hit the game-winning three-pointer in that home win over Nadezhda and against Besiktas, she hit another big shot.

Her three-ball snapped a 52-52 tie with 6:13 remaining to put the Salamanca team in front for good."

After a long travel, we got home thursday night around 12.30am.

This weekends game (another battle) Salamanca - Vigo 71-67

So far we're 4 for 6, and 4th in the league!

This wednesday we receive Bourges for our 4th game of Euroleague

What a week....

Last thursday my parents got to Salamanca (while I was still playing in Pecs, Hungary) for a weekend. I got back on friday night after a 12h trip...
my parents AND my new shoes were waiting for me :)

Saturday night: Salamanca-Valencia 91-86
What a great game!!!

On sunday we took the car for a roadtrip! The day started off grey and chilly, but in the afternoon it became a great day.

First stop: Ledesma, small town at 30km from Salamanca with some really pretty views

Second stop: Zamora, 1h north of Salamanca, very pretty old town!

after a beautiful day, we left for Valladolid, where my parents took there flight back to Belgium. It was great to have them here again!!

On wednesday we had our first home game for euroleague

this is how it ended...

the day after:

How great is it to see a sign like this in the stants, right before the game:
"Anke De Mondt, it's a luxery to have you with us, thank you"

Amazing, thanks everybody for all the support!!!

Goodnight and until the next one!

Game 2

León - Salamanca 73-68

After a 3h drive to León we started off pretty bad, so we were down already 23-15 after the first quarter. We tried to fight back but we made too many mistakes... so yesterday was not our day... on to the next one: saturday Olesa-Salamanca!

We won our opening game at home with 92-64 against La Seu!
It was a great game and we all had a lot of fun on the court!!
We just have to keep going that way...

some nice words on Fibaeurope:
"Spain's other EuroLeague Women side, Perfumerias Avenida, romped to a 92-64 victory over Cadi La Seu D´Urgell. Latvia international Gunta Basko and Belgium national team sharpshooter Anke De Mondt each had 14 points."

tonight game 2, 8.30pm León-Salamanca
